Alison Lapper MBE
Mouth Painter and Photographer

Alison Lapper MBE was born limb deficient due to a condition known as phcomelia, in 1965. 'I'm just a natural abnormality,' she said with her typical brand of humour.

Most of her formative years were spent at Chailey Heritage - a mixture of both hospital and school. As a child she painted using her feet but following an operation to her feet, she began using a mouth-stick.

In her late teens Alison realised that she wanted to develop her artistic skills and went to The West London College to study A-level art. She subsequently completed a degree course in Fine Art at The University of Brighton.

Now an accomplished artist Alison has frequently featured in the media in recent years. She received a prize for her painting in a special edition of the television series, Watercolour Challenge. Alison also appeared on the Good Morning television show during which she was asked to start and complete a landscape painting for the viewers whilst the programme was on air.
