Monica Chong MA RCA
Product Designer
Monica's focus is on creating business value through innovation and creative design. She studied at the Royal College of Art and holds an MA and Diploma in Industrial Design Engineering. A gifted designer, she was an award winner and runner-up for Yahoo! Bix Green Icon Contest. She also contributed to 'Revealing the Invisible' a sustainable tourism lighting installation, hosted by the DOTT 07 Festival and the British Design Council in Newcastle.
Passionate about sustainability, Monica was a finalist in the Entrepreneur's Challenge Cabin Fever Project with Tanaka Business School and Imperial College. She also contributed to the Go Global Product Design project with the RCA and Thailand Creative Design Centre in Bangkok.
Monica has extensive commercial experience in California and London through her former design roles at Yahoo! Inc, as head of International User Experience and Design. She also worked at the NASA Ames Research Centre (Sterling Software) where she was responsible for the creative design of educational multimedia programs about Aeronautics.
Progressive in her thinking, Monica participated in the 2007 Sustainable Materials and Social Innovation workshop with the Eden Project and Architects sans Frontieres in St. Austell, Cornwall.
Monica enjoys public speaking and is a significant contributor to publications and conferences including the Cultural Ergonomics Journal Elsevier, the IWIPS Paper Reviewer, Yahoo!: Digital Art Works and the BMW: User Confusion conference in Munich.
