Debbie Mayes is an abstract artist based in Cumbria. Debbie says: "I have been producing artwork for as long as I have had a mental health problem which is around 20 years. The two are very much linked. I am bipolar which means that I have extreme swings of mood from elation to despair and back again. My work reflects this, it is bright and playful when I am 'high' and sober and reflective when I am 'low'. I love the work of Anthony Gormley and the way in which he uses his body to explore space. I have only done casts of my hands and feet, but would love to do a whole body cast. "
