Holland America Line ordered five new ships from the Italian Fincantieri yard as a part of their 'Vistas series.'
In 2001 the Gig-Arts was commissioned to provide a series of decorative wall light fixtures for the Zuiderdam and her sister ship the Oosterdam.
The light fixtures were designed as pairs of ornate seahorses which were exquisitely carved and gilded seahorses by Ben Harms and Ray Gonzalez who are renowned for being wood carvers to the British Royal Household.
